What is Pain Management

This branch of medicine is dedicated to helping improve the quality of life and reduce the suffering for those living with chronic pain. We recognise that pain is multifactorial and complex, the interactions of pain are wide ranging and impact mood, thoughts and behaviour as well as relationships and social circumstances.

Therefore, we work on the bio-psychosocial model to relieve the suffering related to chronic pain. We collaborate with physiotherapists, psychologists, surgeons to provide the best tailored care for our patients. Treatment at PainCare London can give you the confidence and help to manage your chronic pain more independently than ever before.

What to expect from your appointment

On your first appointment Dr Ghei will take a full patient history from you and then examine you. This could take up to 20 minutes. Please bring any medications you take and/or the relevant valid prescriptions.

In order to make a diagnosis and determine the source of the pain, Dr Ghei may request some investigations such as MRI, CT or Ultrasound scans, or blood tests. If you have records of results of these tests from previous consultations with other specialists, or any other relevant reports, please bring these along with you as well for comparison.

Following this, Dr Ghei will make suggestions and plan for your pain management which is individualised to your needs. this may include medications or injection therapy as indicated. It is possible that you may be referred for physiotherapy or other care if necessary.
