Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

CRPS is a condition which leads to severe chronic pain in a limb or specific area. It usually occurs after a relatively minor trauma but leads to symptoms which are out of proportion to the extent of the initial insult.

 

The pain experienced is severe, continuous and excruciating. It may be accompanied by temperature, colour, skin or nail changes in the affected area. It can be a debilitating and frustrating and treatment can include physical, pharmacological and psychological interventions.
